Pg 082: Steph's one day in 9th grade
Homeschooling
When my daughter was nearing the end of 8th grade, she wanted to go to school with one of her friends from the 9th grade. She wanted to see what it was like at the big high school.
We made the arrangements for a one-day visit. At the end of that day, she came home and reported several interesting observations about the experience -- all unsolicited -- and they included:
-- “Those kids don’t listen.”
-- “They make fun of the teachers right in front of them.”
-- “They don’t do their work and ask stupid questions that another kid just asked.”
-- “They plan how to trick the teacher.”
-- “All they talk about is each other.”
-- “I hate that there’s no freedom.”
-- “I don’t want to go there. I want to stay homeschooled."
She remained homeschooled through the 12th grade and never went another day to public school.
