Pg 081: Steph's one day in 5th grade
Homeschooling
After homeschooling for a couple years, we decided the family could use some R&R. Friends in Florida offered their house while they went away for the month of January! (Since we're from Maine, that sounded really inviting).
So, after we had been there for three weeks, my 5th grade daughter had become close friends with another 5th grader who went to public school. She asked to go to school for one day to see what public school was like.
We did what the school required (including proof of immunizations) and my homeschooled daughter went to school for one day.
When she came home and reported on the experience, she told us, “That is terrible! Even when you have your work done, you still have to sit there -- just sit there! It’s a waste of time!"
That cured her of her curiosity for another three years...but it came back again in 9th grade.
