Pg 042: Flexibility and unit studies

Homeschooling

Flexibility in content offers a freedom to homeschooled students that is not available in the traditional classroom.

If your daughter shows a high interest in Egyptian Antiquities, that is obviously part of World History a/k/a Social Studies.

But that passion can also be crafted to give her  a rich Literature course, Science course, Creative Writing course, Journalism course, and who knows what else.

As homeschoolers we can capitalize on the abilities, interests, and resources of our children.  We have a flexibility that is seldom found in the traditional classroom.

Think of what you could do if the family owned a horse!  The Science, History, and Social Studies can be derived from that resource. Not to mention Physical Education, Fine Arts, and Health, too!*
