Pg 037: Driving to the summit
Homeschooling
On any given day, one snapshot of your homeschooling progress can be misleading, even discouraging.
I remember driving the family toward the summit of Mt. Rainier. Everybody in the car knew we were going up this huge mountain, but from time to time the road would be going downhill, then slowly start to rise again as we moved toward the summit.
When the car was headed downhill, we were still climbing toward the summit. But it looked like we were going down -- sure, but we were still headed UP.
The dip was long, but temporary, and the overall progress we were making was UP. Homeschooling is a process. Ups and downs are expected -- you’re not a bad parent or bad teacher, you don’t have a bad child. It’s just the way it is.
A picture of any one day is just like looking at only the section of the road that heads downhill. The big picture is the true picture.
