Pg 032: Education rules are not equal
Education
All public education is not created equal. Different jurisdictions have different requirements.
For example, some states have set the minimum high school graduation requirements as 24 high school credits. A neighboring state may require 16 high school credits.
Some states control the graduation requirements on the state level. Some states allow for the local districts to set their own graduation requirements -- a district on one side of the river requires 18 credits and the city on the other side of the river (same state) requires 22.
All public education is not created equal.
Some states require passing a statewide “EXIT EXAM” in order to get a diploma. In those states it doesn’t matter how many credits you have earned, no passing grade on that one test and you’re denied your high school diploma. Did everything right for 13 years? Too bad. No passing test score, no diploma.
Some states, like Maine, have NO EXIT EXAMS.
