Pg 023: Specialists rises to the surface
Education
As children grow, they show varied interests. Interests come and go. But when older, into and past puberty, you might notice a genuine interest begin to rise to the surface and stay.
The student will be academically good in that area and never seem to get enough (music, computers, math, science, writing, whatever). Since they are good in that area, you might find yourself saying, “Okay, put that down now, it’s time to get to your history."
Careful. What you just stopped them from doing might be the life-interest, the career-interest, and the income-interest for their future.
Don’t be afraid to round out the rest of their education with the other minimum studies required. Then focus all the time you can on their “specialty."
Do not be afraid of a student’s rising specialty. Instead of applying the brakes to their interest -- we’d do better to pour in more fuel!
