Pg 014: 1/2-cup of salt
Homeschooling
There was a day when my daughter learned to read better, more accurately.
She was 10 years old and making a pumpkin pie, one of my favorites. I came into the house just as she emptied the bowl of filling into the pie crust.
As any good father would, I told her I wanted to lick the bowl. She handed it to me and I scooped up a good tablespoon of the remainder. Once it hit my mouth, I headed with gusto to the sink!
“Oh, Stephanie....how much salt did you put in that?”
“Just what it said, Daddy. 1/2 cup!”
As I tried my best to recover, she looked at the cookbook and reported that it really said 1/2 teaspoon. That day, she learned how to measure, and she learned how to read better.
