Pg 100: Changes for the family, children by our side.
Homeschooling
On the farm and in the family business, the children were always around. They watched us and heard us agonize over decisions.
Buying a different house, selling the old house, selling the farm, selling a car, selling a truck, fix the other truck or get rid of it? They were there every step as we lived with abundance and lived in the lean times.
They listened to our business on the phone, in the car, at the table. They were part of our real life. They learned by watching us cope -- watching us weigh the options, watching us make the decisions.
And yes, they were there when the decisions led to consequences -- both good and bad.
Children cannot learn these things if they are not there. They need to be present to get the experience, not away from parents under somebody else’s care, custody, and control.
